Ink, Pixels and Passion:
My Creative Odyssey
With nearly a decade of experience in the realms of graphic design and copywriting, I’ve crafted visual narratives that resonate with audiences. My creative journey extends beyond the screen, as I indulge in professional photography to capture fleeting moments that evoke emotions. In my career, I had the privilege of leading a dynamic team of over 20 designers, fostering collaboration and pushing creative boundaries.
My creative journey started in a less than conventional way. I skipped a grade in primary school, making me the perpetual youngest in my class. As my peers delved into essay writing, I was still mastering the art of constructing a single sentence. The catch-up game became my constant companion.
Language fluency became my superpower through a series of educational shifts. In primary school, I grappled with science and math in Mandarin. Secondary school introduced me to additional math, physics, chemistry, and biology—all in Malay. Then, at the pre-university level, I immersed myself in accounting and economics, this time in English.
Despite my family’s preference for practical degrees, I yearned for a more artistic path. The rebel in me resisted conforming to the banker-accountant-doctor mold in the family. So, I embarked on a business degree at the National University of Singapore (NUS), a compromise that still allowed me to explore my creative side.
Early in my career, I worked as an account manager for banks and telcos. But the desire for something different never waned. That’s when my journey into graphic design and copywriting began. Looking back, it’s been nearly a decade, yet the thrill remains—the excitement of crafting unique creatives for diverse businesses. Each project feels like uncovering hidden potential, and I relish the freedom to explore various themes.
Look forward to embarking on this creative adventure as we discover the endless possibilities together.

Through the Lens:
A Journey of Pixels and Emotions
I’m a professional photographer with more than 20 years of experience in photography and videography.
From my earliest memories, cameras have been my steadfast companions. I vividly recall tinkering with Video 8 and Video Hi-8 cameras during my primary school days. Inspired by the popular TV show “America’s Funniest Home Videos,” I became the kid who always had a camera in hand, documenting life’s candid quirks.
But it was in Secondary One that my passion took a more serious turn. Armed with the school’s VHS ENG camera, I filmed a talking head video of my Year Master—it was my first taste of creating intentional content, and I loved it. Soon after, I joined the school’s Computer Club, dedicating countless after-school hours to filming and editing videos for various events, student skits, and competitions. I pieced together scenes, wove narratives, and felt the exhilaration of creation.
My prized possession was a Sony MiniDV Handycam, DCR-TRV9E, complete with IEEE1394 Firewire (for those in the know) which enabled superfast digital transfer between the MiniDV tape and computer. Yet, what truly fueled my passion was access to the school’s cutting-edge computer labs—a haven of servers, Macs, and PCs. While most of Singapore lacked home computers at the time, I immersed myself in editing videos using tools like iMovie, Avid, Cyberlink PowerDirector, Final Cut Pro, and Adobe Premiere Pro on my school’s Mac Pro. The art of splicing frames, adjusting colour balance, and weaving soundtracks consumed my secondary years.
Today, I wield the Sony FX9—a pro video camcorder that feels like destiny. Its rocker, strangely reminiscent of my old DV camera, echoes the past. Perhaps the DNA of those earlier Sony models found its way into the FX Cinema Line.
Photography found me during my electrical engineering days at the National University of Singapore (NUS). I initially harboured dreams of becoming a videographer. However, professional video cameras remained out of my budgetary reach at that time. Bear in mind, those were the days when the Sony New E-mount eXperience (NEX) was still in its infancy, while the A7 was yet to be born. Undeterred, I explored an alternative avenue: capturing moments frame by frame through photography.
My group scholarship from a major Singapore corporation provided the perfect opportunity. While my studies remained a priority, the scholarship funds, combined with savings from my NS days, allowed me to explore my interests. Balancing studies and passion, I armed myself with determination and a camera, embarking on my visual journey. It began with a modest investment in a Canon 550D DSLR. However, as I delved deeper into the art of photography, I realized that this entry-level camera lacked the advanced features necessary to produce the stunning images I admired online. Driven by newfound passion, I embarked on a quest to elevate my craft. The rabbit hole beckoned, and soon I found myself investing in higher-end gear—7D, 5D Mark II, 5D Mark III, and 6D Mark II, with tonnes of L lenses.
The photography landscape continued to evolve, and mirrorless cameras emerged as a game-changer. Sony’s mirrorless lineup caught my attention and I took the dive into mirrorless, but even the top-of-the-line A7R4 felt too compact in my hands. As a photographer, I craved the convenience of a top LCD—a feature I had grown accustomed to. Enter Nikon’s maturing mirrorless line, and once again, I made the switch.
Over the years, my lenses captured a kaleidoscope of moments: corporate events, weddings, graduations, birthdays, and exhilarating sports actions. Yet, amidst this vibrant tapestry, two occasions of the same project stood out—the ones etched in my memory forever.
In 2013 and 2014, I had the honour of serving as one of the official photographers for Singapore’s National Day Parade (NDP). These were no ordinary assignments; they were a privilege and a responsibility. In 2014, the stakes were even higher—it marked the last NDP attended by our nation’s founding father, Mr. Lee Kuan Yew. His presence that day left an indelible mark on all of us. As I clicked the shutter, I was capturing history—the poignant farewell of a visionary leader.
To this day, the images from that final NDP remain imprinted on my soul. They remind me that photography isn’t merely about technical prowess or equipment—it’s about preserving memories that transcend time, in the right place at the right moment. It’s about honouring our past, celebrating our present, and shaping our future, one frame at a time.
And so, my journey continues—a perpetual dance between light and shadow, pixels and emotions. Each click is a tribute to the stories unfolding around us, and I am grateful for the lenses that allow me to witness and share such wonderful memories.
